About The Position

Provides professional security services for the University campus by controlling access to all buildings; patrolling the grounds and facilities; providing written reports based on daily activities; and performing specific duties pertaining to the safety, security, peace and order, and public relations of the University campus community. Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed. Exhibits student-centeredness in the performance of all job duties. Treats all others with respect; understands the impact of culture and background on the behavior of others; respects differences among the Life community; and demonstrates inclusive behavior. Anticipates, listens to, understands, and responds to customer needs. Delivers work products and services to customers in a manner that reflects positively upon the department and the University. Handles incidents to help ensure the safety of police officers and other first responders. Monitors radio channels and provides immediate information and assistance to police and other first responders.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma (or equivalent) with some security or law enforcement experience.
  • Possesses some knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Able to perform duties independently under general supervision.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects while adhering to strict timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on conflict resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Able to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to perform CPR and basic lifesaving activities.
  • Ability to observe and define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • A valid Georgia Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

  • Follows daily requirements for building locking and unlocking procedures.
  • Periodically inspects buildings and grounds during the shift to ensure there is no physical damage.
  • Patrols parking lots regularly to ensure traffic flow is not disturbed.
  • Writes parking tickets when necessary.
  • Impounds unauthorized vehicles according to established procedures.
  • Assists visitors, students, faculty, and employees with vehicle problems, directions, and information as requested.
  • Participates in organized programs for training, crime prevention, and community relations.
  • Writes reports as necessary according to department protocol and documents all incidents as required.
  • Develops good working relationships with other campus departments, faculty, and students.
  • Answers the telephone and relays information to the appropriate personnel.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned to support the University mission.
  • Locks and unlocks doors on campus and surrounding property.
  • Maintains familiarity with and supports the mission of Campus Safety.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.
