Campus Safety Monitor | On-Call / Part-Time
About The Position
Joffe Emergency Services is seeking professional and dependable part-time Campus Safety Monitors to support a school campus in the DC 20012 area. This is an on-call position in which monitors pick up shifts as the school’s needs arise, including weekday coverage and occasional weekend shifts or longer days for events. Campus Safety Monitors are trusted members of the school community who help foster a safe, positive, and supportive environment for students, staff, families, and visitors. The role involves maintaining campus safety, responding to incidents and concerns, monitoring student behavior, conducting patrols, supporting school administration, and building positive relationships across the school community.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Customer service experience required.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working independently and in dynamic environments.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during high-pressure situations.
- Must be willing to obtain a SPO License.
- Must be able to read and write English fluently.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform routine patrols across campus grounds.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of 2 years of security experience preferred.
- Experience working with children or students preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure campus environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Serve as a visible and approachable presence throughout campus.
- Respond to campus incidents, emergencies, and safety concerns.
- Monitor student behavior and help enforce school policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine patrols and safety inspections of campus grounds and facilities.
- Assist with traffic flow, parking, and visitor access.
- Write detailed incident reports and document security-related activity.
- Support school administration with safety and security needs as requested.
- Assist with campus investigations, including reviewing camera footage and gathering information.
- Help ensure campus buildings and facilities are properly secured.
- Build positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and local law enforcement.
