About The Position

The position will assist the Assistant Director of Fitness Initiatives with the operations of a comprehensive Campus Recreation Fitness Program Area. The GSE will be responsible for the daily operations of the FitWell program (group fitness classes), designed to support student, faculty, and staff wellbeing. The primary duties of the position include hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and supervising student employees. This position will specifically collaborate to assist with the implementation of services and facilitation for integrated fitness offerings.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Student must be accepted and enrolled in nine graduate hours each long semester
  • Evidence of effective written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Hold CPR/AED Certification or acquire such certification within 30 days of hire
  • Position subject to Criminal Background Check

Nice To Haves

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health/Wellness-related field
  • Nationally Certified Group Exercise Certification and/or Certified Personal Training
  • Two years of experience in a fitness-related field and/or Campus Recreation program
  • Strong leadership quality and experience in personnel supervision

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluation of the group fitness instructors
  • Responsible for new member welcome emails, patron communication, and staff updates
  • Meet with student team leaders at least once monthly
  • Assist with leading the program area’s monthly staff meetings and/or required trainings.
  • Coordinate FitWell program class plan for each semester, bi-weekly staff schedules
  • Assist in the planning and marketing of special events and outreach programs
  • Coordinate and implement patron incentive programs for participants
  • Assist in gathering and tracking program data, certification status, and other key metrics
  • Maintaining inventory and maintenance requests of program equipment and fitness spaces
  • McLane Student Life Center Facility Supervision morning, evening, weekends
  • Work cooperatively with other program areas to assist with departmental work as needed
  • Review risk management policies/procedures and make updates as needed
  • Assist with the annual events, BURST, Late Night at the SLC Diadeloso, etc.
  • Complete other duties as assigned
