About The Position

The Campus Monitor is responsible for maintaining a secure environment and ensuring the safety of students, staff, parents, and authorized guests during school operations. This is a 10-month, full-time, hourly-paid position with a stated pay range of $15.00–$18.00. A $5,000 retention stipend is also listed. Candidates must successfully pass criminal and employment background checks and drug testing. Franklin Academy is a drug-free workplace and an equal opportunity employer.

Requirements

Knowledge of the basic methods and practices of school monitor work.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with teachers and school staff.
Ability to communicate appropriately and maintain professional decorum with students.
Initiative and resourcefulness in problem solving.
Ability to act quickly, calmly, and correctly during emergency situations.
Ability to write a simple report.
High school degree or equivalent.
Successful criminal and employment background checks and drug testing.

Nice To Haves

Two years of monitor experience preferred.
Spanish preferred; many families are primarily Spanish-speaking.

Responsibilities

Ensure student and staff safety at all times.
Check visitors for proper identification while they are on school premises and guide them as needed.
Report students or non-students demonstrating unacceptable behavior to School Administration.
Guard the campus and ensure only authorized individuals are on school grounds.
Establish effective rapport with students, staff, and parents.
Report incidents requiring police assistance to School Administration.
Support staff during school functions, including hall monitoring, lunchroom duty, bus arrivals and departures, class transitions, drop-off, and dismissal.
Perform other related work as required.
