About The Position

The Campus Plumber at the National Western Center (NWC) is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of all facilities and campus plumbing. The role focuses on the long-term health and upkeep of all plumbing systems, restrooms, kitchens, and outdoor yards plumbing. This position ensures facilities are current with industry trends, sustainability, and water conservation, and also guarantees the safety of water, gas, and drainage systems. This is a multifaceted job with a broad spectrum of opportunities for professional development, joining a small, nimble, collaborative, creative, and entrepreneurial team accelerating the growth of a new events hub and innovation campus in Denver, Colorado.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, associate degree or technical certification in plumbing systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of all electrical safety codes and regulations.
  • Forklift Certification and Scissor Lift Certification or willingness to acquire within the first 60 days.
  • Licensing and registration must be kept current.
  • Knowledge of national and local building codes and safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to address building system issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and move equipment as needed; may require working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Experience working in a large multi-building campus environment, preferably in a public or commercial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair plumbing systems, ensuring the functionality and safety of water, gas and drainage.
  • Installing, repairing and maintaining various plumbing fixtures, pipes and related equipment.
  • Respond to plumbing emergencies, including clogs, leaks, burst pipes to create a comfortable event.
  • Have a preventative maintenance and health plan for all campus.
  • Maintain inventory and par level ordering systems to quickly resolve on campus issues.
  • Participate in any capital projects related to plumbing infrastructure.
  • Evaluating modernization and trends to update facilities in a planned concept.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance for prevention and ensure systems are operating efficiently.
  • Maintaining and repairing, steam and hot water systems, including pumps, valves and related components.
  • Testing, maintaining and repairing backflow prevention devices and documenting work orders.
  • Knowledgeable with all codes to make sure facilities and work completed is to code.
  • Other duties as assigned.
