About The Position

AoPS Academy is seeking a Campus Director for its Irvine campus. This role involves leading a community focused on intellectual curiosity and mathematical challenges, bringing together exceptional teachers, motivated students, and supportive families. The Campus Director will set the tone for the campus, champion the academic mission, and foster an environment where students feel known, inspired, and excited to learn and grow. AoPS Academy is part of Art of Problem Solving (AoPS), a leader in advanced K-12 math education, known for inspiring and training problem solvers. AoPS Academy offers advanced courses in math, science, and language arts for students in Grades 1-12 in small, live classrooms, both in-person and online, with over 20 campuses nationwide. The Campus Director will lead a vibrant enrichment program, serving as the academic leader, managing a team, engaging with families, growing enrollment, and ensuring a thriving learning community. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys creative problem-solving, and possesses the academic vision and leadership to cultivate a problem-solving culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Teaching experience and highly aligned with AoPS pedagogy
  • Deep understanding of the needs of students advanced in mathematics
  • Strong leadership and commitment to academic excellence

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in math or a related field
  • Teaching experience with advanced learners in elementary or secondary schools
  • Familiarity with math and other academic competitions
  • Leadership experience, preferably in an academically enriching environment
  • Experience with student recruitment, marketing, community engagement, or enrollment growth

Responsibilities

  • Create an Exceptional Academic Community: Establish a campus culture where academically advanced students are challenged, supported, and excited to learn. Ensure every class challenges and engages advanced learners, reflecting AoPS’s commitment to deep understanding, active participation, and rigorous problem-solving. Teach AoPS courses and remain closely connected to the student and instructor experience. Build a culture of instructional excellence where instructors continue to grow and exceptionally talented teachers are recognized and celebrated. Maintain the highest standards of academic quality and service to families.
  • Build and Inspire a Strong Team: Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and retain outstanding full-time and part-time staff. Provide team members with clear expectations, meaningful feedback, and development opportunities. Foster a collaborative culture focused on ownership, problem-solving, and the company mission.
  • Help More Families Discover and Stay with AoPS: Build trusted relationships with current and prospective students and families. Educate families about AoPS’s unique approach and program fit. Lead enrollment growth and student retention efforts by delivering an academically meaningful and welcoming experience. Develop mission-aligned partnerships with local organizations. Attend and host events to strengthen the local advanced math learning community.
  • Turn Vision into a Thriving Campus: Take ownership of the campus’s reputation for academic and customer service excellence and ensure its long-term success. Execute campus playbooks to deliver a mission-aligned experience. Use frontline experience to anticipate needs, plan thoughtfully, and partner with regional and national leadership to address challenges and opportunities.
