About The Position

The Catering/Retail Manager plays an important operational, quality control, culinary, catering, and day-to-day leadership role. The Catering/Retail Manager helps the FSD with overseeing food service staff and service operations at a Higher Education location primarily in the Catering and retail service spaces and is an ambassador for Genuine Foods’ to grow and maintain relationships with customers and partners. This role has a strong emphasis on catering coordination, execution, and campus partner satisfaction, ensuring that all events reflect Genuine Foods’ culinary standards and hospitality values while supporting a positive campus experience. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a team environment, has a strong customer service and culinary orientation, and has experience supervising others, managing events, and coordinating logistics. Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of management experience in hospitality, food service, or a similar environment.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop management skills.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role with exposure to catering, customer service, people development, food services, etc.
  • Expert client relationship, influencing, presentation, listening, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Champions the inclusion mindset, and is proactive, positive, professional, flexible, and resilient.
  • Demonstrates initiative, ownership, multitasking, prioritization, and organization skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and other computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and inspire a diverse team of food service workers and cooks to ensure top-quality food and customer service is provided at the location
  • Act as the main liaison for all catering events, managing communication, logistics, and on-site coordination.
  • Ensure that all food, beverages, and event materials are prepared, organized, and delivered on time to guarantee seamless execution.
  • Support the Food Service Director in setting the Genuine cultural tone in the account, meet regularly with the team and partners to ensure full transparency, understanding, safety, and accountability.
  • Serve as a representative/brand ambassador of the Genuine Foods team at the location, attend client and community engagement events as needed.
  • Collaborate with FSD to support account needs and solve problems by thinking through all angles and downstream impacts.
  • Drive and develop self and team to build strong relationships with clients and help achieve KPIs (profitability, safety, engagement, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable USDA, regional, state, and local policies governing meal and retail programs, along with safety and QA requirements; conduct audits and offer solutions for improvement.
  • Champion development, performance evaluations, succession planning, and focus on building single- and multi-unit management skills; have a full understanding of all roles within operation; support the team with tools and systems.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
