About The Position

FPWA is seeking a Campaigns Intern for Summer 2026 to directly support our True Cost of Economic Security campaign, with the potential to continue in the position through the fall semester. This role provides hands-on exposure to policy campaigns, legislative research, and campaign coordination. The Campaigns Intern works closely with the Membership, Programs, and Campaigns Team to advance FPWA’s mission under the guidance of the Campaign Manager and Campaign Coordinator. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a graduate or undergraduate program in public policy, political science, social work, law, economics, or related field.
  • Introductory understanding of policy and advocacy landscape on key economic security issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interest in public policy, economic and social justice, and civil rights.
  • Creative and adaptive problem solver.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates who have firsthand experience of the social welfare and/or justice system are encouraged to apply.
  • AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Help track and maintain campaign databases, project trackers, and coalition/government outreach logs to ensure data accuracy.
  • Assist with the drafting and editing of campaign materials, external presentations, fact sheets, and more under the supervision of the Campaign Manager and Campaign Coordinator.
  • Support the planning, logistics, and execution of panels, forums and legislative briefings.
  • Help conduct outreach to coalition members and document participation during coalition calls.
  • Help advance campaign goals through targeted research tasks, including identifying state legislative prospects, compiling a list of new coalition prospect lists, and providing key data points on the True Cost of Economic Security.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks including but not limited to meeting minutes, tracking project action items, and the campaign’s document management infrastructure.

Benefits

  • $20 to $25 per hour, commensurate with experience.
