About The Position

The New York City Mayor’s Office of Mass Engagement (OME) is responsible for strategizing, coordinating, and executing on engagement that reaches the masses of everyday New Yorkers. We engage New Yorkers in shaping policy outcomes, demystifying government, and ensuring that the government remains accountable to serving the people of this great City. Our work is designed as a long-term project – we are building the power of everyday New Yorkers, and we are building a City that works for all of us.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • A committed organizer, passionate about ensuring that the public can meaningfully engage in the development and implementation of government policies and processes.
  • A motivated self-starter who can manage complicated projects with minimal guidance.
  • An enthusiastic collaborator.

Responsibilities

  • Building volunteer systems that allow New Yorkers to participate in large-scale, meaningful engagement and events
  • Build out campaign initiatives for The Mayor’s Office of Mass Engagement by collaborating and liaising with other offices and agencies to develop a strategic, scalable campaign that helps New Yorkers join town halls, trainings, canvases, and other events that forge relationships and leadership development among regular New Yorkers.
  • Map out timelines, goals, and metrics to help us communicate how the mass participation of New Yorkers as volunteers can meaningfully impact our city.
  • Work across the Mayor’s Office of Mass Engagement to bring in all pieces of our engagement work into mass initiatives.
  • Represent the Mayor’s Office of Mass Engagement at public meetings when required.
  • Other duties as required.
