About The Position

The Camp Program Leader is responsible for designing, leading, and facilitating engaging, inclusive camp activities for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. This role ensures that all programs are safe, adaptive, and meaningful while fostering independence, socialization, and fun. The Program Leader serves as a positive role model and plays a key role in creating a supportive, person-centered camp environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving/support role
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • A positive, flexible, and team-oriented attitude

Nice To Haves

  • College coursework in Human Services, Recreation, Education, or related field
  • Camp, recreation, or program leadership experience
  • Knowledge of behavior management and de-escalation strategies
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Design and facilitate exciting daily activities (arts, recreation, life skills, team-building, and more)
  • Adapt programs to meet a wide range of abilities and learning styles
  • Create an environment where every participant feels included and empowered
  • Build strong, positive relationships with campers
  • Provide hands-on support to help individuals fully participate
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social connection
  • Use positive behavior supports and de-escalation techniques when needed
  • Supervise campers at all times in a structured, supportive environment
  • Follow all safety procedures and respond appropriately to incidents
  • Assist with personal care needs with dignity and respect when required
  • Collaborate with counselors, cabin leaders, and leadership staff
  • Help create a cohesive, high-energy camp culture
  • Participate in trainings, meetings, and daily team check-ins
