About The Position

Catholic Charities Disability Services & Ministries is seeking a compassionate nurse for its 7-week summer Camp Happiness program, serving children ages 5-18 with developmental disabilities. The role involves coordinating and providing healthcare for Disability Services and Camp Happiness participants.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current R.N. licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • Current Basic & Cardiac Life Support Provider card.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work history.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, squat and reach above head.
  • Ability to form good working and therapeutic relationships.
  • Ability to work with diverse client population, community organizations, as well as staff at all levels.
  • Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must possess a strong initiative and be self-directed, making many decisions independently.
  • Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
  • Review health history/examination forms for all campers.
  • Check the camp health log to assure it is being completed correctly, see specific campers for follow-up, make appropriate notations, and review with the Site Director and sign.
  • Assist with health emergencies as needed, to determine when immediate hospitalization is warranted.
  • Assess illness and injuries of campers and staff as necessary; report any health limitations or restrictions to appropriate camp personnel.
  • Monitor communicable diseases through assessment and development of appropriate precautions.
  • Review all completed Incident Reports informing parents/guardians of medical/physical problems or concerns which may need attention.
  • Ensure that site(s) have proper first aid materials/equipment and suggest any additional supplies.
  • Initiate medical education for any staff as needed.
  • When not providing medical care, actively engage as a team member supporting campers in all activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
