About The Position

Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Overnight Camp Nurse will oversee the health of all campers and staff at camp and will be responsible for administration of camper medication and first aid-kits, organization of camper medical information and record keeping. This role will manage the day to day medication administration and log camper visits to health center. The Nurse will manage camper health issues via digital and paper systems depending on time of year. The Camp Nurse will also manage Campers with special medical needs in accordance with doctors orders. Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with California Nursing License or license that is endorsed by the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Minimum one year experience in medical setting
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross American Heart Association American Safety and Health Institute

Responsibilities

  • Ensures branch compliance by reviewing all medical logs.
  • Ensures tracking and recording of all special needs, medications, dietary concerns or treatments for each camper are kept consistent in Health Center.
  • Review health records of campers for completion and call parents for corrections.
  • Assist with the administration of appropriate medical care and treatment to campers and staff in compliance with standing orders and within scope of licensing.
  • Ensures that inventory of appropriate medical supplies and equipment are kept.
  • Ensures branch maintains separate medication logs documenting all the medications given in accordance with state and federal laws and ACA requirements.
  • Assists program team with communication to parents as related to health issues.
  • Assist with camper check-in by interviewing parents and campers with medications or health matters.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the Health Center Technician and Program team
  • Ability to communicate with children and youth of all ages and development levels
  • Ability to interpret, document and communicate support related issues
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects simultaneously
