About The Position

The Camp Counselor works under the direction of the Youth Development Director and primarily supports the camp lead counselor, helps execute program activities, and supervises campers. The role provides guidance, safety, leadership, education, and enjoyment for children served at camp. The position is based at the Northeast Cobb YMCA.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Experience working with children in a structured setting.
Must have or be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification, along with any other certifications required for the position.
Exemplify YMCA ideals and leadership qualities.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, solve problems, and manage time effectively.
Strong customer service skills and a personal commitment to service and hospitality.
Pass required background checks and drug screening, including criminal record, motor vehicle record, and reference checks according to company policy.
Obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment and maintain certification throughout employment.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Provide guidance, safety, leadership, education, and enjoyment for children served by camp.
Carry out daily program tasks within the position’s scope and responsibility.
Stay updated on current issues regarding camp programs.
Promote, monitor, and evaluate camp programs to help ensure they run smoothly and provide a high level of service to participants.
Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, Metro Atlanta YMCA New Staff Orientation, branch emergency procedures, and other required certifications or training.
Assist as needed in all aspects of the YMCA and its community.
Maintain and report incident and accident paperwork.
