Student-parents may have the opportunity to work in various campus departments, potentially in areas related to their academic and career goals. Orange Coast College, founded in 1947, is a diverse institution committed to serving its students through high-quality programs and services. The college is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI). The Coast Community College District, which includes OCC, Golden West College, and Coastline Community College, enrolls over 60,000 students and is dedicated to diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and anti-racism. Student employment at OCC offers opportunities to earn money, gain experience, and combine academic study with on-the-job training. Student Assistants are temporary employees and are not benefits-eligible. Work hours vary depending on the semester and enrollment status, with potential for up to 40 hours per week during breaks or when not enrolled in classes. Student Assistant roles can range from unskilled to skilled and specialized duties, with varying levels of supervision and independence depending on the classification (Student Assistant I, II, or III).
