About The Position

UBMD Ophthalmology / Ross Eye Institute is seeking a professional and patient-focused Call Center Representative to support appointment scheduling and patient communication in a busy specialty practice. This role manages high-volume calls, gathers accurate patient information, and ensures efficient scheduling while delivering a positive patient experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical receptionist, call center, or customer service role
Proficiency with multi-line phone systems and computer applications
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and follow direction

Nice To Haves

Prior medical call center experience preferred
Experience with electronic scheduling systems and EMR preferred

Responsibilities

Greet and assist patients and visitors in person, by phone, and electronically
Handle high-volume inbound calls, schedule appointments, and respond to general inquiries
Schedule visits using established provider templates to support efficient patient flow
Communicate add-ons, cancellations, delays, and no-shows to the team lead
Create, update, and verify patient records using practice management and EMR systems (including Nextech)
Accurately enter and verify detailed patient information
Explain fees, insurance requirements, and patient financial responsibility
Maintain confidentiality and safeguard patient information
Manage faxing, scanning, filing, and phone messages
Maintain supply inventories and provide coverage for reception desks as needed
Perform additional administrative duties as assigned
