Calibration Technician

RAM AerospaceSaint George, UT
Onsite

About The Position

As a Calibration Technician, you are the guardian of accuracy for our entire manufacturing operation. You ensure that "an inch is an inch" and "a volt is a volt." In this role, you will manage the heartbeat of our Quality System—our Inspection, Measurement, and Test Equipment (IM&TE). You will perform hands-on calibration across a diverse range of disciplines—from dimensional micrometers to complex electronic oscilloscopes—ensuring full traceability to NIST standards. If you are a stickler for detail, an organized problem solver, and someone who takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of precision, we want you to ensure our tools are mission-ready.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements).
  • 3+ years of experience in Metrology or Calibration.
  • Strong understanding of Metrology principles, NIST traceability, and calibration standards (ANSI/NCSL Z540, ISO 17025).
  • Demonstrated ability to calibrate and troubleshoot varied equipment types (Electronics, Dimensional, Pressure, and Temperature).
  • Superior attention to detail. Must be able to manage a complex schedule and maintain impeccable records.
  • Associate’s degree in a technical field (Electronics, Engineering Technology) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency with Calibration Management Software (CMS) databases and Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PMEL (Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory) training in the military is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and testing on a wide variety of manufacturing and process control equipment, including dimensional (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, thread plugs/rings), electrical (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, milliohm meters), and physical/thermal (pressure gauges, transducers, thermocouples, and pyrometry equipment).
  • Manage the calibration database to schedule and track thousands of assets, generating status reports and coordinating with production leads to recall tools before they go overdue, minimizing production downtime.
  • Manage the relationship with third-party calibration labs for specialized off-site testing, reviewing and approving their calibration certificates to ensure they meet RAM’s strict quality standards.
  • Maintain the calibration system with unbroken traceability to NIST standards, ensuring all records comply with AS9100 regulations and internal procedures.
  • Investigate tools that fail calibration, issue Out of Tolerance notifications, and work with Quality/Engineering to determine if the failed tool impacted any product quality.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for measurement, assisting engineers in selecting the right gauges for new products, troubleshooting measurement discrepancies, and providing training to other technicians on proper gauge handling.
  • Fulfill specific gauge requests for standard and custom tooling, maintain an inventory of spare parts, and coordinate repairs for broken equipment.
