The Calibration Technician II is a mid-level position requiring at least three years of commercial calibration experience. Technicians at this level can calibrate higher-level equipment across a minimum of four disciplines, with expert knowledge in one. They are expected to work independently in the lab or at customer sites with minimal guidance. The role involves learning and developing fundamental calibration skills, potentially leading teams, training lower-level technicians, and advancing to a Tech III position. The goal is to achieve ASQ/CCT or CMT certification and uphold Transcat's Quality Policy.

Requirements

Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom led instruction
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent attention to detail
Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes
Ability to take direction and learn from feedback
Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team
3+ years driving experience with a valid driver’s license
Associates degree from college or technical school, or 3+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge and competency in at least four (4) disciplines and expert in one (1) discipline preferred
Three+ (3+) years of commercial calibration experience
Previous experience or training in electronics or machining
Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and statistics
Familiarity with basic hand tools
Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Basic organizational and time management skills
Advanced organizational and time management skills
Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics
Experience working within ISO 17025 preferred. Understanding of uncertainty contributions to the measurement process

Responsibilities

Perform calibration work with little to no supervision
Conduct independent research when necessary
Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager
Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques
Maintain calibration standards
Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements made
Be able to read and interpret labs’ scopes of accreditation
Work effectively with lab support staff
Perform calibrations within a laboratory or customer on-site setting
Work at customer on-sites with little to no direction
Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards
Other duties as may be assigned
