The hourly rate for this position ranges between $28.00-$34.00. The Calibration Technician II is a mid-level position requiring at least three years of commercial calibration experience. Technicians at this level can calibrate higher-level equipment across a minimum of four disciplines, with expert knowledge in one. Proficiency is determined by Transcat’s technician skills progression matrix. A Calibration Technician II works independently in the lab or at customer locations with minimal guidance.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom led instruction
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes
  • Ability to take direction and learn from feedback
  • Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driver history
  • Associates degree from college or technical school, or 3+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Three+ (3+) years of commercial calibration experience
  • Previous experience or training in electronics or machining
  • Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and statistics
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic organizational and time management skills
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics
  • Experience working within ISO 17025 preferred. Understanding of uncertainty contributions to the measurement process
  • Working knowledge and competency in at least four (4) disciplines and expert in one (1) discipline preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration work with little to no supervision
  • Conduct independent research when necessary
  • Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager
  • Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques
  • Maintain calibration standards
  • Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements made
  • Be able to read and interpret labs’ scopes of accreditation
  • Work effectively with lab support staff
  • Perform calibrations within a laboratory or customer on-site setting
  • Work at customer on-sites with little to no direction
  • Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards
