About The Position

Saskatoon Co-op is seeking a part-time Cake Decorator for its Warman Food #139 location. This role reports to the Bakery/Deli Manager and is responsible for various aspects of cake production and decoration. The company is a member-owned organization focused on serving its members and communities through a variety of goods and services, including grocery, liquor, pharmacy, petroleum, home and building solutions, and agricultural supplies. With over 1400 employees, Saskatoon Co-op serves over 127,000 members in Saskatoon and surrounding communities.

Requirements

  • Recognized training or a minimum of two years’ experience working with all types of dessert cakes, icings, and cake decorating techniques.
  • Good health and health habits, capable of handling ingredient and product rates common in the plant.
  • Physically able to perform the lifting and carrying required in the department.
  • Well organized, and capable of attaining a high level of production with a minimum of supervision.
  • Must be able to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
  • A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or training in working with chocolate will be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive, professional approach and attitude.
  • Be dependable for all scheduled shifts.
  • Complete required production from the production master sheet.
  • Complete decorating requirements to prepare cakes for sale or shipment.
  • Mix icing to association standards.
  • Merchandise completed product on the sales floor.
  • Ensure high cleanliness and quality standards are maintained in handling all products.
  • Maintain daily production and ingredient records as required.
  • Keep clean and in good working order all equipment used in the performance of duties.
  • Maintain good sanitation standards in the work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
