About The Position

This position works in a truck garage shop and the position holder performs light mechanical repairs as needed on 18-wheeler trucks and trailers. This position will also fix and weld broken cages as needed. Performs preventative maintenance and vehicle inspections. Operates a forklift to get or place back empty chicken cages on the truck. Welds broken cages as needed and fabricates pieces in order to fix cages.

Requirements

  • Must have required tools: Entry level set, Standard Wrench set (1/4"-1 1/4"), Metric Wrench set (8mm-22mm), Standard 1/4 drive socket and ratchet set (1/4"-1/2"), Standard 3/8 drive socket and ratchet set (3/8-15/16), Standard 1/2 drive socket and ratchet set (1/2-1 1/4), Metric 1/4 drive socket and ratchet set (8mm-13mm), Metric 3/8 drive socket and ratchet set (10mm-19mm), Metric1/2 drive socket and ratchet set (13mm-24mm), Complete set of Phillips and standard screwdrivers up to #3 on both, Set of pry bars with at least a 20 inch bar, 12 volt test light, Small and large pliers, needle nose, wire crimping pliers and vise grip pliers, 3/8 air ratchet, 1/2 air impact.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Previous mechanic experience required.
  • Welding experience is a must - metal fabrication.
  • Must pass a urinalysis for drug & alcohol screening.
  • Willing to stand, walk, bend, stretch, climb, push, pull, kneel, squat, and reach and climb ladders and onto trucks.
  • Willingness to lift 70 lbs. on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to tolerate climates ranging from very cold to very hot and from very wet to very dry.
  • Exposed to various elements of weather.
  • Must have general understanding of heavy duty truck repair.
  • Willingness to tolerate odors associated with chicken processing and offal trailers.
  • Must be able to understand and agree to follow Safety Rules (ie. Lockout/Tagout).
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA standards.
  • Must be able to communicate with truck drivers.
  • Basic math skills as needed to make work related computations for machinery, fluid capacities, etc.
