HHS Cafeteria Worker (4.0 hour)
About The Position
This is a part-time position at Horton High School, working 4 hours per day. The role involves various cafeteria duties, including food preparation, cashiering, inventory control, and supporting the school's recycling program. The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement Local 3876. The position is effective September 1, 2026, with a closing date for applications of midnight, June 25, 2026. Employment is contingent upon providing a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
Requirements
- Must have experience in food and menu preparation.
- Must be organized, neat/tidy and have clean work habits.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced atmosphere.
- Must have knowledge of food and nutrition policy for Nova Scotia Public Schools.
- Must enjoy working with students.
- Valid Nova Scotia Operator's License.
- Must have a current Food Handling Certificate.
Responsibilities
- Cashier, as required.
- Cooking, baking, and preparation of food.
- Keeping daily accounts and inventory control.
- Selling canteen items at recess and noon.
- Kitchen duties as required in coordination with the cafeteria team (stocking shelves, cleaning, dishes etc.).
- Support of the school recycling program.
- Substitute for Head Cafeteria Worker, as required.
