About The Position
The Cafeteria Monitor monitors student behavior and assists students during lunch at Wolftever Creek Elementary in Hamilton County Schools, Chattanooga, Tennessee. The role helps create a respectful, positive, and pleasant cafeteria environment, supports safe and efficient student movement, and assists students as needed, including students with special needs. No degree is required; experience working with school-age students is preferred. Compensation is $15 per hour.
Requirements
- No degree required.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal communication skills to deal effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Ability to read and write effectively.

Responsibilities
- Creates a respectful, positive, and pleasant environment in the cafeteria.
- Implements procedures and practices that result in efficient entry and exit of students in the cafeteria.
- Assists students as needed, such as helping younger children open milk or ketchup packets.
- Assists students with special needs as appropriate.
- Uses positive strategies to redirect inappropriate student behavior.
- Follows established procedures for ensuring assigned areas are safe.
- Works collaboratively with administration, principals, secretaries, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Attends work and arrives to work on time.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
