About The Position

The Cafeteria Attendant is responsible for prepping, stocking, setting up, maintaining, breaking down, and cleaning up the cafeteria during food service periods. This role ensures compliance with health department standards and maintains a hospitable service atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation.
  • Knowledge of operating a dishwasher.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language in order to read labels, put food and dry goods in the proper place, and communicate with other team members.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to load and unload the dishwasher, handle all sorts of kitchen equipment, knives, slicing blades, etc.
  • Regular attendance in conformance with standards.
  • Ability to maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Some work experience in a related field preferred.
  • Some hospitality experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fill food containers with food, labeling and dating them.
  • Perform general cleaning to stay in compliance with the health department.
  • Put away food stock and dry goods in their proper location, rotating stock using the 'First In, First Out' method.
  • Prep assigned foods as directed by the supervisor.
  • Perform general/routine cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products.
  • Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills or executing special guest requests.
  • Go through the cafeteria cart and review all prep for the meal periods of the day.
  • Ensure all equipment is on and sanitized.
  • Check refrigeration temperatures.
  • Fill food containers according to needs.
  • Take stocked carts to the break room and begin placing food into proper spots.
  • Ensure proper serving utensils are in place.
  • Replenish food as needed during meal periods.
  • Flip pans containing product into new, clean ones.
  • Ensure everything has a correct label and date.
  • Refill all pans with fresh product and place on cart.
  • Ensure all prep for the following day's lunch is done.
  • Break down all equipment in the cafeteria.
  • Load all pans onto cart to bring upstairs.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Ensure no food or dirty pans are left in the cafeteria.
  • Place properly wrapped, labeled, and dated items into the dairy cooler for overnight storage.
