About The Position

RUSTIC BAKERY has been making and serving organic handmade baked goods since 2005. We operate five popular cafes in Marin and have a wholesale production division making flatbread crackers, cookies and crisps in Petaluma. We strive for locally sourced ingredients of the highest quality when making our products and the same goes for our people. We're looking for individuals with a love of artisan products, who want to bring their very best and be part of a fresh baked, locally sourced, fast rising company.

Requirements

  • Passion for creating a great customer service experience.
  • Ability to train and motivate staff in providing the best customer service and maintaining high standards.
  • Must be available to work varied schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have reliable transportation for travel to each Cafe site within Marin County.
  • Understanding of financial reports and ability to adjust accordingly to meet targets.
  • Strong time management skills and accuracy to deal with a variety of duties and changing work environment.
  • Must work well with employees and guests, exercising tact and patience in all situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, in English.
  • Experience with payroll systems (Paylocity) and POS systems (TOAST).
  • Previous food service management experience.
  • Basic knowledge of MS office suite, including Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing and maintaining the entirety of daily operations within their assigned Cafe, while remaining flexible to support other cafes as business needs require.
  • Overseeing all FOH and BOH operations ensuring a great customer experience while maximizing sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, cost control, ordering, shrinkage, and staffing.
  • Ensuring that each guest receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, upholding excellent standards and thorough product knowledge.
  • Ensuring food and health code standards are being met in both café and kitchen areas.
  • Responsible for weekly scheduling and payroll of all staff, including but not limited to managing time off requests for staff and yourself according to company policy.
  • Maintaining appropriate merchandise stock levels, presentations and assortment for the café retail display.
  • Managing all ordering for the café and maintaining appropriate levels of product.
  • Maintaining cafe staffing according to the business need; placing ads for needed new hires, screening and hiring accordingly.
  • Training staff as needed, including but not limited to opening and closing procedures, proper money handling, product knowledge, coffee service standards and new menu items.
  • Managing staff to include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Assisting other employees (i.e. cashier, busser, cook, etc.) when necessary due to unexpected absence or extra volume.
  • Informing Staff in a timely manner of new menu item launches and promos.
  • Ensuring equipment is maintained and serviced on a routine basis; reporting any breakage or maintenance needs to your manager in a timely manner.
  • Training staff on safety and ensuring all safety measures are followed.
  • Processing information and product through payroll system and register system.
  • Other duties as assigned.
