About The Position
A Barista creates and serves specialty hot and cold beverages according to Eataly’s recipes and guests’ special requests. The role requires knowledge of coffee menu items and the ability to provide high-quality, fast-paced service while working at multiple Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) counters. The Barista may also serve pastry, gelato, pizza, and other Italian delicacies. This position reports to the QSR General Manager and the QSR Assistant General Managers.
Requirements
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for coffee, tea, drink preparation, and products.
- Outstanding communication and guest service skills.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations and follow production directions.
- Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule, often including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to maintain well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending, and squatting.
- Ability to operate a manual espresso machine, ovens, drink blender, juicer, and Point of Sale system.
- Dexterity for rapid and consistent espresso preparation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 1 year of barista experience using a manual espresso machine.
- High school diploma.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve authentic Italian espresso, coffee, and other café drinks at multiple counters.
- Provide exceptional guest service and explain product details, such as coffee blends and preparation methods.
- Set up stations and neatly replenish displays, keeping allergens such as nuts and wheat separate.
- Ensure items are dated and follow First In, First Out (FIFO) standards.
- Weigh, grind, or pack coffee beans according to guests’ specifications.
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and ensure accurate cash drops and bill authenticity.
- Clean and sanitize work areas in accordance with the supervising health agency’s requirements.
- Work across QSR counters serving pastry, gelato, pizza, and other Italian delicacies.
- Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
