About The Position

Supports the management staff in food management operations as well as performs food service activities of establishment by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Three to six months restaurant or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with basic first aid procedures with respect to choking, minor bumps, burns, cuts, scrapes punctures, and insect bites or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and to write correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must become familiar with and pass testing on professional food handlers material.
  • Attend Department of Business Regulation class if required.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and Safe Driving Record.
  • Knowledge of computers and experience with Word, Excel, and Outlook Software.
  • Experience with multi-line phone systems, fax machine, copier machines, and cash registers.
  • Knowledgeable in general POS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects food and performs food preparation to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations.
  • Adheres to established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices.
  • Uses a computer system or POS to total prices and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill; and accepts payment and makes change.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment, floors, tables, and glass etc.
  • Keeps record of sales, prepares inventory of stock and orders merchandise, as assigned; and assists management in ordering Food and Beverage by creating par levels.
  • Investigates and resolves food quality and service complaints.
  • Maintains an appearance and presents an attitude conducive to visitor service goals and objectives of the Museum.
  • Ensures the interests, needs and concerns of the customer are responded to promptly, and with courtesy.
  • Communicates effectively on telephone and reliably records messages, including school lunch orders and catering requests.
  • Creates prep lists and inventory par levels based on flow of business.
  • Assists management with catering and rentals needs outside of café working hours; includes set up, serving, breaking, inventory, and other needs as assigned by management.
  • Assists management as need, which may include other duties as assigned.
