About The Position

This position serves as the Swing Team Lead for the swing shift and is responsible for coordinating and overseeing cadre operations during afternoon and evening hours in support of the Montana Youth Challenge Academy (MYCA) mission. The incumbent provides leadership in developing cadets’ physical fitness, life skills, self-esteem, social responsibility, character, integrity, and self-discipline. The Swing Team Lead manages program operations for the swing shift by scheduling staff, cadets, facilities, and activities; maintaining accurate records and correspondence; and ensuring appropriate resources, materials, and equipment are available. The position actively participates in Triad meetings and disciplinary processes, assists with evening programming, field trips, and special events, collaborates with medical and support staff, and engages in ongoing professional development. This role requires knowledge of MYCA policies and procedures, records management practices, behavior modification techniques, and confidentiality standards. The incumbent must demonstrate strong leadership, team-building, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to assess and respond to complex cadet needs and present information effectively. The position also provides leadership to staff by developing, reviewing, and monitoring work plans, priorities, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective program delivery during swing shift operations.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Cadre Instructor is required.
  • Education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or HiSET.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Valid Montana driver’s license (CDL Class B with passenger endorsement preferred).
  • Ability to pass and maintain required physical fitness standards consistent with National Guard requirements.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment and random drug testing.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, coordinating, and supervising swing shift activities such as physical training, leadership and followership development, structured evening programming, community service, and discipline.
  • Ensuring the safety and security of cadets during assigned hours.
  • Supporting life skills development.
  • Participating in disciplinary hearings.
  • Providing direct supervision to both cadre staff and cadets.
  • Managing program operations for the swing shift by scheduling staff, cadets, facilities, and activities.
  • Maintaining accurate records and correspondence.
  • Ensuring appropriate resources, materials, and equipment are available.
  • Actively participating in Triad meetings and disciplinary processes.
  • Assisting with evening programming, field trips, and special events.
