About The Position

This position is for a 2nd Shift Expander, working from 3:30 PM to 1:00 AM, Monday through Thursday, with alternating Fridays. The role includes a +15% shift differential. The Expander is responsible for setting up and operating equipment to expand metal parts, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications.

Requirements

Ability to work in a high-temperature environment.
1-2 years of work experience inspecting production parts using blueprints or gauges.
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
Working knowledge of basic inspection equipment.
Mechanical aptitude.
Knowledgeable in metal finishing.

Responsibilities

Read and understand station plans, standard work, or other work instructions before performing assigned work.
Perform assigned tasks with minimal assistance.
Work within a team environment and provide constructive feedback.
Work safely around chemicals, high temperatures, lifting devices, and electrical equipment.
Utilize working knowledge of inspection tools.
Perform painting and coating of parts prior to hot expanding.
Set up jobs for Hot/Cold Expand per station plan and standard work instructions.
Readjust initial set up based on results of first strike to ensure quality parts per station plan and/or blueprint.
Understand digital recorders, temperature controllers, and thermocouple correction factors.
Layout and measure the first part before continuing the balance of the work order.
Measure each part after removal from the Expander.
Troubleshoot any parts that fail to meet station plan and/or blueprint requirements.
Seek out and work with engineering support when needed.
Set up and operate metal finishing equipment.
Perform de-burring and grinding of parts.
Record required document inputs and operator charge time correctly.
Perform all assigned jobs safely as directed by the supervisor.
