About The Position

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician based in Baltimore, MD. The CAD Technician will be responsible for creating detailed design drawings for swimming pool designs, collaborating with architects and engineers to ensure design accuracy, and assisting project managers with drafting and updating plans. The role also includes maintaining technical resources, troubleshooting design challenges, and ensuring compliance with company and client standards.

Requirements

  • Experience with computer-aided design software and tools, such as AutoCAD or similar applications
  • 2+ years of experience in structural design
  • Strong understanding of grading, hardscape detailing, pool layout, construction practices, shotcrete/gunite structures, pool hydraulics, plumbing layouts, soils engineering and retaining structures.
  • Excellent drafting, visual, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage design projects from concept through permit-ready documentation, with coordination during construction as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred, but experienced designers/engineers without a PE are encouraged to apply
  • experience with pools, water features, or concrete structures is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site consultations to understand client goals for residential and commercial pool projects, translating them into creative, functional designs.
  • Develop conceptual, schematic, and detailed designs that balance creativity with constructability, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Create structural designs, drawings, and specifications for pools, spas, and related outdoor structures.
  • Perform engineering calculations for concrete, steel reinforcement, retaining walls, soil loads, and hydraulic considerations.
  • Prepare permit-ready plans and construction documents for pools, pool houses, hardscapes, and outdoor living spaces.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and national building codes.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and permitting departments.
  • Review site conditions, soil reports, and project constraints to ensure safe and efficient designs.
  • Revise and update plans throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and version control of drawings.
  • Partner with construction and project management teams to ensure seamless execution of design intent.
  • Provide technical guidance to construction teams during the build process.
  • Work closely with sales, design, and construction teams to ensure consistency across all phases of a project.
  • Stay current with design tools, materials, and industry trends to refine your skills and knowledge.
