About The Position

The Design Drafter I is responsible for producing basic pattern designs, utilizing CAD tools. This role prepares detail drawings of products from sketches, using software tools, and ensures that drawings incorporate all design features and maintain the product style. The Design Drafter I contributes design modifications to improve the quality and function of the product. Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: Working with CAD files, pencil sketches, marked blueprints, and other documented information furnished by Designers, Engineers, or Design Drafting Supervisor. Creating drawings by planning arrangement of appropriate views, sections, and details as required to best describe part geometry. Drafting dimension and tolerance part drawings that may incorporate complex details. Verifying completed drawings against input requirements prior to submittal to Drafting Supervisor, Designer, or Engineer. Executing revisions on detail, assembly, and customer drawings, or engineering specification documents. To document revisions, the following skills are required: personal computers, BOM knowledge, and technical writing for DCN's - (40%) Authorized by an Engineering Change Notification.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma and one-year advanced study in CAD drafting plus two years of specialized training (required)
  • Specialized training is defined as work exposure in the field of drafting, utilizing "Board" and "CAD" methods using precise drawing techniques and convention (required)
  • Exposure to ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standards (required)
