About The Position

We are looking for a seasoned infrastructure architect to lead the strategy and evolution of large-scale compute platforms supporting Apple's semiconductor design organization. You will define the long-term roadmap for how engineering workloads are run, scheduled, and optimized — spanning on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments. A strong analytical mindset is essential, as you'll use data to drive decisions around performance, efficiency, and capacity. This is a high-impact technical leadership role that sits at the intersection of infrastructure, EDA, and emerging AI technologies — requiring both deep hands-on expertise and the ability to communicate complex technical strategy to a broad range of stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in HPC, EDA, or large-scale compute infrastructure.
  • 5+ years in an architect or technical lead role.
  • Deep expertise with server queuing systems (e.g., NetBatch, LSF, GE, PBS, Slurm) — including configuration, tuning, and scaling at production scale.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying hybrid-cloud EDA/HPC flows in 3rd-party cloud providers such as AWS or GCP.
  • Strong understanding of compute, storage, and network architecture as they relate to workload performance.
  • Experience with Python, Perl, TCL, and/or Bash as commonly used in EDA environments.
  • Experience analyzing data and building real-time dashboards and queries with tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate deep technical analysis into executive-ready insights.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of GenAI concepts and tools and how they relate to semiconductor design (LLMs, agentic workflows, MCP, model serving, GPU infrastructure).
  • Familiarity with EDA tool flows — RTL simulation, synthesis, place & route, STA, DV regressions, and their unique compute/license characteristics.
  • Hands-on experience with high-performance shared filesystems (Lustre, NetApp ONTAP, Overture, FSx).
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical teams, with readiness to grow into team leadership.
  • Cloud certifications (AWS, GCP, or Azure Solutions Architect).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy and evolution of large-scale compute platforms supporting Apple's semiconductor design organization.
  • Define the long-term roadmap for how engineering workloads are run, scheduled, and optimized across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments.
  • Use data to drive decisions around performance, efficiency, and capacity.
  • Communicate complex technical strategy to a broad range of stakeholders.
