About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking an experienced CAD Operator to join their Water Wastewater and Utilities team in Sarasota. This role involves working closely with project engineers and designers to create civil construction documents for various water and wastewater infrastructure projects using Autodesk Civil 3D and Revit. The operator will develop and quality check technical drawings and plans, potentially perform calculations, and maintain the drawing database. The position requires minimal supervision and a good understanding of engineering principles, with the possibility of training and supervising other CAD staff. Coordination of work activities to meet schedules and ensure quality control is also a key aspect of this role, along with developing familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices and standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
  • Ability to work independently and with a team

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Autodesk Civil 3D and Revit to create civil construction documents for wastewater lift stations, pump stations, pipelines, and utility work.
  • Develop technical drawings and plans using CAD software.
  • Make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity.
  • Perform some multifaceted calculations.
  • Maintain drawing database.
  • Supervise and train CAD staff.
  • Coordinate work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control.
  • Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards.
