CAD Modeler

Hadrian Automation•Torrance, CA
•$98,000 - $167,000

About The Position

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that combine AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing to help aerospace and defense companies produce mission-critical systems faster and at lower cost. The company converts legacy technical data—such as scanned paper, hand-marked prints, partial models, and drawings without existing 3D models—into manufacturing-ready models and drawings so customers can sustain and rebuild defense systems. The CAD Modeler creates 3D models and 2D drawings for naval and aerospace parts from the customer-provided source material. The role also creates models and drawings for each manufacturing state (M-state), or in-process configuration, of a part. Engineers define the M-states; the CAD Modeler models, documents, and configures them. The role owns assigned parts from initial modeling through release and subsequent changes.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience building production CAD models and drawings for hardware manufactured in a factory.
  • Expertise in one parametric 3D CAD application and ability to create models that another person can modify; NX is preferred, and CATIA, Creo, or SolidWorks are also suitable.
  • Experience building 3D models from complex 2D drawings when no existing model is available, including modeling internal features shown only in section views.
  • Ability to read and draft GD&T per ASME Y14.5, weld and NDT symbols per AWS A2.4, and drawings to ASME Y14.100.
  • Experience releasing parts and controlling changes in a PLM system.
  • Ability to ask for clarification when a drawing does not answer a question rather than guess.

Nice To Haves

  • Production experience using Siemens NX.
  • Experience with naval or shipyard drawings, customer data packages, and old or hand-drawn prints.
  • Experience modeling and drawing in-process (M-state) configurations that differ from the final customer definition.
  • Experience running customer and internal change processes at the same time.
  • Background in machined parts, welded assemblies, tooling, and CMM or scan inspection.
  • Ability to identify when one parametric model can cover a family of part numbers and build it accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Build manufacturing-ready 3D models from naval prints, aerospace drawings, partial models, and other customer documents, matching the customer's definition feature for feature.
  • Create 2D drawings for factory use, based on the model or on customer-provided information.
  • Build models and drawings for each manufacturing state (M-state) of a part.
  • Resolve conflicting or unclear drawing views using the rest of the drawing as context.
  • Maintain accurate, structured PLM data and submit parts through the release workflow.
  • Carry customer changes through the customer geometry and every related M-state across the part family.
  • Build models that tooling, programming, and inspection teams can use as a base.
  • Work with manufacturing teams and make the model and drawing changes they need.
  • Manage release schedules across many parts and adjust priorities quickly.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees.
  • 401k.
  • Relocation support may be provided in certain situations based on business need.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
  • Equity.
