CAD (Computer-aided Design) Intern
About The Position
The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Right of Way Bureau is seeking a student intern who is interested in getting some hands-on CAD experience! This position would assist in our parcel digitization effort, where we are digitizing DOT acquired parcels on transportation projects throughout the state. Various other duties assisting the Bureau’s GIS and Design units may be required. On the job training in CAD and some GIS and A.I. machine learning. The State of Iowa participates in E-Verify, a federal program that helps employers confirm the employment eligibility of all newly hired employees. Within the required timeframe, new hires will be verified through the E-Verify system to ensure authorization to work in the United States. The State of Iowa also complies with the federal Right to Work laws, which protect employees’ rights to work without being required to join a labor organization. Requirements
- Currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution.
- Must be verified through the E-Verify system to ensure authorization to work in the United States.
- Must comply with federal Right to Work laws.
Nice To Haves
- Existing CAD experience preferred.
- Willingness to learn new programs.
Responsibilities
- Assist in parcel digitization effort, digitizing DOT acquired parcels on transportation projects throughout the state.
- Research parcels in the DOT’s Electronic Management Records System (ERMS).
- Digitize parcels from strip maps and plat maps into CAD.
- Perform various other duties assisting the Bureau’s GIS and Design units.
