CAD Extraction Engineer

Apple•Austin, TX

About The Position

As part of Apple’s Silicon Engineering group and CAD organization, the CAD Extraction Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances parasitics extraction flows for Apple silicon designs. The role creates software and technologies that enable Apple engineers to develop products, and supports accurate post-layout simulations and circuit performance analysis. The engineer applies RC analysis to diagnose and debug parasitic effects across designs, and guides or develops design improvements to balance and minimize parasitic impact. The role may also develop RC-aware or RC-driven design optimization methodologies using EDA vendor solutions, scripts, and complex software, and use AI technology to develop solutions to user issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree and at least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficiency in post-layout custom design flow, including LVS, extraction, and simulations.
  • Experience as a power user or developer of extraction tools such as StarRC and Quantus.
  • Experience developing sophisticated scripts using Shell, Perl, Python, and TCL.
  • Familiarity with AIML workflows and development experience with Skills and Plugin, and/or VSCode development.
  • Problem-solving attitude and positive teamwork.
  • Ability to speak and write fluently in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in general big data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance parasitics extraction flows for Apple silicon designs.
  • Analyze RC effects across designs to diagnose and debug parasitic issues.
  • Guide and design improvements that balance and minimize parasitic impact.
  • Use EDA extraction tools and methodologies to ensure parasitic RLC accuracy and circuit performance in post-layout simulations.
  • Develop RC-aware or RC-driven methodologies for design optimization using EDA vendor solutions, scripts, and software.
  • Use AI technology to develop solutions to user issues.
