CAD Extraction Engineer

Apple•San Diego, CA

About The Position

As a member of Apple’s CAD team within Silicon Engineering, the CAD Extraction Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances parasitics extraction flows for Apple silicon designs. The role uses RC analysis to diagnose and debug parasitic effects and guide design improvements that balance and minimize parasitic impact. It applies EDA extraction tools and methodologies to ensure parasitic RLC accuracy and circuit performance in post-layout simulations. The engineer also uses AI technology to develop solutions to user issues and develops RC-aware or RC-driven design optimization methodologies using EDA vendor solutions, scripts, and complex software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree and at least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficiency in post-layout custom design flows, including LVS, extraction, and simulations.
  • Experience as a power user or developer of extraction tools such as StarRC and Quantus.
  • Experience developing sophisticated scripts using Shell, Perl, Python, and TCL.
  • Ability to speak and write fluently in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI/ML workflows.
  • Development experience with Skills and Plugin, and/or VSCode.
  • Experience in general big data analysis.
  • Problem-solving attitude and positive teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance parasitics extraction flows for silicon designs.
