About The Position

This role is responsible for creating CAD solid models and assemblies to support engineering goals. The CAD Designer will generate detailed drawings, process components, sub-assemblies, and bills of materials. They will also create models and detail drawings for process tooling and machine parts, perform interference and assembly fit check studies, and ensure compliance with industry drafting standards. The position provides design support from concept to production and involves checking the work of other designers during change control processes. Additionally, the role handles file conversions, interfaces with engineers and designers to resolve issues, and transfers math data to customers and suppliers using various systems. The CAD Designer is expected to utilize CAD software capabilities to enhance GSS CAE competence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a technical curriculum from an accredited school and 3 years of CAD experience.
  • Proficient user of Solids based CAD Systems.
  • Proficient in NX, Creo/ProE and Teamcenter.
  • Proficient with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, per ANSI/ASME Y14.5M (Most current version or one version prior.)
  • Proficient with ASME Drafting Std. Y14.100 (Most current version or one version prior.)
  • Proficient in dimensional stack up and interference checks.
  • Experience with product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to manage and create drawings and BOM's for multiple projects.
  • Experience using PDM tools (Teamcenter).
  • Experience dealing in a professional manner with Customers, suppliers.

Nice To Haves

  • Solidworks and CATIA will be a plus.
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic with the ability to work as part of a team in a project-oriented environment.
  • Experience with transfer of Math Data to customers, suppliers via web based system will be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create CAD solid models and assemblies in support of engineering to achieve target goals and objectives.
  • Generate all detailed process, component, sub-assembly and assembly drawings, as well as bills of materials.
  • Create Models and detail drawings for process tooling and machine parts.
  • Perform interference and assembly fit check studies, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and assure compliance with industry drafting standards.
  • Provide design support from concept to production.
  • Check other designer’s work during change control processes to ensure that CAD and drafting standards are being followed.
  • Create file conversions as required from CAD data, i.e. iges, dxf, stl, and pdf formats.
  • Interface with Engineers and Designers to resolve CAD / Design issues.
  • Transfer of math data to customers, suppliers, etc.. via Syncplicity, TeamCenter, or other means.
  • Utilize CAD software capabilities as appropriate to improve GSS CAE competence.
