This role is for a CAD Designer located in Princeton, IL, and will be a key member of the Capital Projects & Automation Department.

Requirements

  • Performs work under general supervision.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD & Creo.
  • Experience with Autodesk Fusion 360.
  • Possess strong design fundamental skills.
  • Ability to handle moderately complex issues and problems.
  • Competent in the design of physical plant layouts and proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA principles.
  • Familiarity with Windchill (PLM software).
  • Requires an associate’s degree or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
  • High attention to detail & accuracy.
  • Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings.

  • Willingness to travel based on project needs and vendor locations, primary location is on-site at LCN.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update plant layout drawings in AutoCAD, including equipment design facets such as material movement and staging, waste streams, utilities, employee egress, and maintenance access.
  • Collaborate with project engineers, manufacturing engineers, tool room, and maintenance on new fixture and equipment design.
  • Generate detailed 2D drawings from 3D models for manufacturing.
  • Provide design fundamental skills focused on sustainability, flexibility, and efficiency.
  • Offer multiple options for equipment and process layout for review with engineering, operations, materials, and EHS.
  • Act as a core member of Capital Project teams, providing layout requirements based on facility limitations.
  • Assist with layout markups on the manufacturing floor for equipment moves.
  • Collaborate with project managers and maintenance to identify utility routing and drops for equipment installs.
  • Convert vendor-supplied drawings, models, and PDFs into equipment layouts for integration within the plant layout.
  • Maintain tool and die revisions for existing equipment and fixtures.
  • Reverse engineer OEM components to establish documentation for equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Transfer design markups and sketches into 3D designs using Creo.
  • Provide feedback on design concepts focusing on manufacturability and integrity.
  • Collaborate with the tool room and vendors to ensure design intent is realized through manufacturing, assembly, and installation.
  • Generate utility schematics for in-house developed equipment designs.
  • Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for assembly designs.
  • Assist with material selection for custom fixturing and workholding.
