About The Position

Sets-up, runs, and monitors 36” up to 64”cabling equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable. This role involves performing specific job responsibilities such as reading set-up sheets, determining machine adjustments and material requirements, setting up and running cabling lines, and operating a respooling machine. The operator will observe, measure, and inspect products to ensure they meet specifications, complete all required documentation, and clean equipment to prevent contamination. The position requires recognizing and assisting in solving production defects and problems, and conducting all activities in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines. The role also emphasizes promoting service excellence, quality, and championing the company's mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Six months related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate a machine in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly.
  • Ability to read and follow basic instructions and to understand and implement quality procedures.
  • Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Color vision.
  • Hearing sufficient for communication with co-workers and alarm awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the product code to determine product to be manufactured, machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets-up, runs and monitors the cabling lines for all standard products.
  • Sets-up and runs respooling machine located in the cabling area to respool fillers.
  • Observes, measures and inspects products at various stages of the production process to assure product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
  • Correctly completes all documentation specific to this job function.
  • Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
  • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required.
  • Conducts all activities in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines.
