About The Position

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Cable & Wire Harness Technician 1/2 - First Shift to support our Tactical Space Systems Division located in Gilbert, AZ. This position entails the fabrication and assembly of complex Space flight cable and harnesses assemblies from drawings, schematics, wire lists, or engineering sketches in conformance with government specifications and workmanship standards. Assembly is performed in a professional atmosphere in a ESD and FOD awareness area. Daily work attire includes lab coat and latex gloves at all times. Regular use of soldering iron, tweezers, heat gun and other common hand tools. This is a SkillBridge Program opportunity, an approved program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members. The program aims to provide transitioning service members with fellowship-style job skills training, acting as a pipeline for motivated military candidates into Northrop Grumman. Interns will receive on-the-job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40 hours per week, with potential for full-time transition upon completion.

Requirements

  • Tech 1: High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience in soldering, cable and harness, or soldering.
  • Tech 2: High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience in soldering, cable and harness, or soldering.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office products and process documentation.
  • SkillBridge Eligibility: Has served at least 180 days on active duty, Is within 12 months of separation or retirement, Will receive an honorable discharge, Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS, Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months, Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace Industry manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with TipQA, Costpoint, Windchill, MES, Creo.
  • A strong understanding of wiring processes, crimping, splicing, wire routing, and assembly techniques as it applies to IPC standard harness assembly operations.
  • Familiarization with ESD, FOD, 5S, and Tool Control required.
  • Preference to candidates with NASA J-STD and/or IPC 620 certifications w/ Space Addendums.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a team including Manufacturing Engineers, Technical Writers, Quality Assurance Representatives, and Production Planners.
  • Report to the Manufacturing Manager.
  • Work well alone and within a team environment.
  • Possess good problem-solving skills, organizational skills, communication skills, and work with limited supervision.
  • Be a self-starter, self-motivated, and a team player.
  • Have the ability to focus and have a strong attention to detail.
