About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Cable & Harness Technician to support the US Navy in Indianapolis, IN. This role involves reading and following assembly prints, work instructions, drawings, procedures, and specifications for the manufacturing of Cables and Harnesses. The technician will also diagnose and repair damaged or malfunctioning wiring harnesses, identify and rectify defects, and perform assembly tasks with a high degree of care and attention to detail. Maintaining accurate material control and process documentation, and providing feedback to management and engineering are also key aspects of the position.

Requirements

  • HS and five (5) or AA degree and three (3) years’ experience.
  • Assembly/production experience and a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in related field
  • Motivated and detail oriented
  • Excellent hand dexterity
  • May occasionally perform duties in a standing, kneeling or squatting position
  • Good eyesight and ability to distinguish color is necessary
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Reads and follows assembly prints, work instructions, drawings, procedures and specifications used in the manufacturing of Cables and Harness.
  • Diagnose and repair damaged or malfunctioning wiring harnesses, using a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Identify and rectify any defects or issues in the harnesses, such as miswiring, poor connections, or insulation damage.
  • Identifies by sight workmanship and material defects in touch-up and assembly areas and may be able to suggest basic changes to the work instructions to improve operations in these areas.
  • Performs tasks with a high degree of care / Quality and attention to details while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assembles cables & harness assemblies, and adapters by working from samples, Technical Data packages, visual aids, wiring lists and Work Instructions.
  • Maintains accurate material control within the work area.
  • Participates in providing timely feedback to other operations, management and support engineering, as appropriate.
  • Follows and maintains accurate process documentation.
  • May use a variety of tools to perform tasks.
