About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented candidate with 3 years of structured cabling experience to join our team as a Cable Technician in Chantilly, VA. This role involves working independently or as part of a crew to perform various tasks related to cable installation and maintenance.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of cabling experience.
High School diploma plus advanced training.
US Citizenship is required for access to buildings and installations.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders.
Ability to work overhead reach for extended periods of time.
Ability to work on hands and knees.
Ability to communicate well in English both verbally and written.

Responsibilities

Pulling, terminating, and testing copper and fiber cable.
Installing cable tray and various other types of cable support hardware.
Demonstrating proper procedures for installing, terminating, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting cable plan systems to team members.
Generating equipment lists and bills of material for completing tasks.
Interfacing with customers as required on a day-to-day basis and informing the project manager of possible problems or changes to the scope of work.
Using hand tools, including various punch tools, test equipment, and various power tools such as hammer drills and saws.
Using various types of copper and fiber cable and termination hardware, as well as termination and testing procedures.
Understanding various cable plant configurations such as STAR, BUS, and RING.
Working knowledge of various cable plant configurations used to support networks like ETHERNET, TOKEN RING, and FDDI.
Working knowledge of EIA/TIA requirements such as distance limitations and pin configurations.
Reading blueprints and cut-sheets, and generating test reports and as-builts.
