About The Position

The Cable Technician installs and terminates structured cabling and network equipment inside and outside data centers. The work includes building out telecommunications closets, installing cable pathways and devices, grounding equipment, and completing copper and fiber connections. The position is based onsite in Lebanon, Indiana, and is a contract-to-hire role. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

• Proficiency with the listed tools and equipment.
• Proven ability to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting requirements, and quality requirements.
• Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
• Cable installation, structured cabling, Cat5/Cat6, rack-and-stack, and punchdown skills.

• Fiber knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Install and terminate Cat6 cabling and work with fiber-optic cabling.
• Lay out and install wireway, bus duct, cable tray, switches, receptacles, and other devices.
• Build telecommunications closets by mounting and installing backboards, cross-connects, racks, patch panels, fiber-optic components, and hardware.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
• Complete IDC connections, including terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
• Pull wire and/or oversee and direct conduit installations and wire pulling.
• Work inside and outside buildings during data center build-outs.
• Operate tools and equipment, such as cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jackhammers.
