About The Position

The Cable Technician will be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and maintaining low-voltage cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling. This role involves working with cable trays, racks, conduits, and various termination connectors. The technician will also be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing cabling faults, adhering to safety regulations, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Requirements

Deep knowledge of low-voltage cabling systems and standard practices.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
Proficiency with crimpers, punch-down tools, and cable testers.
Ability to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
Experience with cable installation, low voltage systems, and network infrastructure.
Familiarity with structured cabling, wireless access points, cat 6 cables, and rack and stack procedures.

Responsibilities

Pull, route, and manage CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling through cable trays, racks, and conduits.
Terminate copper (patch panels, jacks) and fiber (LC, SC) connectors.
Test and certify links with equipment like Fluke analyzers.
Install racks, cabinets, cable pathways, and supporting hardware.
Troubleshoot, identify, and repair cabling faults and connectivity issues.
Adhere to all safety procedures (OSHA, NFPA), including safe use of ladders and lift equipment.
Label all cables and ports, and update documentation or as-built drawings.
