About The Position

The Enterprise Communications Services 3 (ECS3) program supports our intel customer across its CONUS & OCONUS operating locations. Our focus includes the design, transition, operations, and continual service improvement to include tech modernization, tech refresh, activities associated with customer local area networks (LANs) and unified communication (UC) services. Our mission on this program will be the design, transition, operations, and continual service improvement to include tech modernization, tech refresh, or Capital Equipment Replacement Program (CERP) activities associated with the clients’ LANs, CAN and Unified Communication services. Requirements

  • High School/GED + 7 Years of experience
  • Current IAT II (Security +)
  • Must know standard copper 568‐B Color code, 25 pair color code, as well as the Fiber 12 strand Color Code
  • Basic networking skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to work well with others and communicate with supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Support the NOC and Operational staff in break fix tickets and building our Access and distribution cabling to support technology insertions.
  • Installation and documentation of new and/or updated Inside Plant cable infrastructure to include: conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber and all associated elements in the client buildings.
  • Follow DIA and commercial best practice procedures (BISCI, EIA/TIA) standards required for installation of cable racks, wiring of the racks and testing required during installation.
  • Analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure.
  • Responsible for tasks assigned in connection with service orders and repair activities related to Category 6 cabling, Voice over IP networks (VOIP), and fiber optic cabling infrastructure.
  • Perform Copper terminations on Patch Panels, Modular Plugs, Jacks as well as Fiber Splicing/Terminating single and multiple strand fiber optic cables.
  • Dress, terminate and test cables and components, ability to work with hand tools, to include power tools, Powder Actuated Tools, and ladders.
  • Ability to work well with others and communicate with supervisors, computer literate.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs voice and data communications cabling systems.
  • Interprets service orders, circuit diagrams, floor plans and networking logic diagrams.
  • Tests, locates, installs, and repairs cabling infrastructure associated with trouble calls, and performs routine maintenance.
  • Use Excel and Microsoft Word, input data into databases and create and maintain cable records as jobs proceed and formalize at completion.
  • Verifies service by testing installed cabling, identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
  • Well versed in the use of network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, Fiber OTDRs and fiber power meters.
  • Responsible for recording testing information.
  • Read network documents and label networking equipment and cables according to diagrams; create as is diagrams of cable efforts according to customer requirements.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • Identify, track, and remove abandoned cable, and keep cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standards.
  • Walking long distances for long periods of time, lifting of material up to 50 pounds, loading equipment onto carts or shelves, moving equipment to work locations, unloading equipment, mounting of equipment into racks and trash removal.
