About The Position

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Orleans, LA. The role involves installing and maintaining network infrastructure, including wireway, buss duct, cable tray, switches, receptacles, and other devices. The technician will also be responsible for building closets by mounting and installing backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware. Additionally, they will install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable, and complete all IDC connections, such as terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels. The job requires individuals who can work both inside and outside data centers, pull wire, and potentially oversee conduit installations. The role also involves operating tools and equipment that require two hands, such as cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jack hammers.

Requirements

Network equipment experience
Cat6 termination
Fiber knowledge
Ability to work inside and outside building out the data centers
Cable, Cabling, Cat6, Rack and stack, Punchdown, Cat5, Cable installation, Structured cabling

Responsibilities

Layout and install wireway, buss duct, cable tray, switches receptacles and other devices
Build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware)
Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required
Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels)
Pulls wire and/or oversees and directs conduit installations and wire pulling
Operates tools/equipment, normally requiring the use of two hands (examples: cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers, etc.)
