About The Position

The Cabin Vendor Manager (CVM) applies ample knowledge of principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices in the development of engineering and certification solutions for various cabin modules (i.e., galleys, lavatories, stowages), passenger and attendant seats, and IFE subjects. Our Engineers have the privilege of working on complex, highly engineered machines and are involved at all stages of the aircraft life cycle, from product development to manufacturing and direct support to our airline customers. The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree-Engineering: (Mechanical /Aeronautic/Civil /Electrical Engineering) Bachelor’s Degree: Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience; OR Master’s Degree: Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.
  • Authorized to Work in the US
  • Direct exposure to project or program engineering methodologies.
  • Proven ability to create, interpret, and review designs using industry-standard CAD tools (e.g., CATIA).
  • General knowledge of the Service Bulletin production process, alongside the ability to read, interpret, and cross-reference SBs, Bills of Materials (BOM), and customer modification requirements.
  • Exceptional analytical agility with the ability to interpret an extensive variety of complex technical aircraft topics.
  • Natural ability to build, nurture, and maintain a proactive internal network with colleagues across global Airbus sites.
  • A strong team player with the relationship-building skills required to align colleagues, airline clients, external partners, and airworthiness authorities.
  • Possesses a synthetic mindset (distilling complex data into clear summaries) balanced with professional assertiveness.
  • Demonstrates high-level listening and oral skills when leading discussions on technical issues and solutions.
  • Flawless written and verbal communication in technical English, with the ability to confidently present clear project status, risks, and strategies directly to the management team.
  • General knowledge on service bulletin production process
  • Ability to read and interpret service bulletin, bill of materials, modification requirements
  • Highly proficient in Google Workspace / Google Suite products for documentation and project tracking.
  • In depth knowledge in project management to identify impact on stakeholders and make the best possible decision for the project
  • Utilize information from various sources to develop new approaches to mitigate risks
  • In-depth knowledge of project management frameworks to predict downstream impacts on stakeholders and make optimal, objective decisions for the project.
  • Proven ability to pull data from disparate, varied sources to develop innovative risk-mitigation approaches.

Nice To Haves

  • Airline / MRO experience desired
  • Aircraft Cabin related experience.
  • Python or other programming language experience
  • Practical airline, hangar, or MRO environment experience.
  • Specific experience related to Aircraft Cabin interiors or modifications.
  • Professional Project Management Certification (PMP).
  • Basic programming or coding experience.
  • Technical Publications (Preferred): Experienced in navigating and using industry-standard Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC) and ATA Technical Manuals (AMM, SRM, etc.).
  • Regulatory Frameworks (Preferred): Familiarity with FAA and/or EASA regulations with respect to aircraft parts procurement, technical documentation, and product traceability.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for engineering development per the aircraft modification project plan
  • Responsible for generating specific technical solutions to support cabin or cargo compartment upgrades including, but not limited to, cabin or cargo monument/equipment installation, monument system and electrical definition.
  • Responsible for generating customized monument specifications.
  • Responsible for engineering (installation, adaptation or removal) drawings and ensuring their accuracy and quality.
  • Responsible for generating installation, adaptation or removal instructions to support input for Service Bulletins.
  • Responsible for determining the parts required for monument and kit definition.
  • Manage the engineering (installation, adaptation or removal) drawings and generating customized monument specifications using subcontractors (internal and external).
  • Support the certification process as required.
  • Strong liaison with other departments (both internally and internationally), vendors/suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Responsible for vendor liaison activities and meeting support.
  • Overall vendor risk and opportunity management.
  • Responsible for vendor and internal documentation support of the certification process, including Vendor Service Bulletins check.
  • Support with vendor ITCM, PDR, CDR, and FAI reviews with vendors and customers
  • Provide customer guidance during technical meetings and reviews.
  • Support the on-site modification team as required, including direct on-site support during aircraft retrofits at MRO’s
  • Responsible for answering/resolving queries during and after aircraft embodiment.
  • Provide end-to-end engineering and project solutions on cabin modifications to directly support the Service Bulletin production lifecycle.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across various organizations within Airbus Customer Services and global Line-Fit production organizations.
  • Interface directly with airline customers throughout project lifecycles to masterfully understand, manage, and meet customer expectations.
  • Involved, negotiation type communication on a regular basis with internal and external parties.
