About The Position

Amentum is hiring a C/C++ Software Developer to support Naval projects in Dahlgren, Virginia. The role is on-site and is part of a growing systems and software engineering team supporting multiple software contracts through Amentum’s Software Center of Excellence. The developer will contribute to Digital Engineering challenges and work on Navy weapons and sensor systems, including modernization efforts. The position involves C/C++ software development and integration, including work within the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system. The developer will primarily support a Senior Amentum developer and use Agile development principles. Work may be performed independently or collaboratively with established teams and other organizations to meet schedule-driven goals. Occasional travel between local work sites during the week is required. The position requires an active Secret U.S. Government clearance and U.S. citizenship. Candidates must maintain a valid REAL ID driver’s license for access to the customer site and have reliable transportation. The stated compensation range is $80,000–$100,000. Requirements

0–10 years of experience.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering, or another applicable technical field, or equivalent experience in lieu of the education requirement.
Familiarity with Agile Development.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact directly with customers and engineering personnel.
Active Secret U.S. Government clearance; U.S. citizenship is required to maintain a Secret clearance.
Maintain a valid REAL ID driver’s license, required for access to the customer site.
Access to reliable transportation, as the position requires occasional travel between local work sites during the week.

Nice To Haves

Experience across multiple programming languages, including C and C++.
A mathematics background.
Experience with Git/Jenkins.

Responsibilities

Perform software development and integration using C/C++ in support of Naval projects and programs.
Conduct software development within the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system.
