About The Position

Ultradent Products, Inc., a global dental and oral health manufacturer and part of the Mitsui Chemicals Group, is seeking an experienced Buyer to join its Procurement team. The Buyer independently manages purchasing activities for assigned production materials and balances material availability, inventory, cost, and quality. Experience purchasing printed materials and packaging is highly desirable.

The role includes managing purchase orders and supplier commitments, using Oracle recommendations and exception reports to respond to production and inventory needs, negotiating purchasing terms, maintaining accurate purchasing data, and coordinating with suppliers, Planning, Category Managers, and Accounts Payable. The Buyer also verifies specifications and revisions, particularly for printed materials and packaging, and proactively addresses shortages, late deliveries, supplier performance issues, nonconforming materials, invoice discrepancies, and receiving issues.

Requirements

• At least three years of purchasing experience; direct responsibility for production materials in a manufacturing environment is ideal.
• Hands-on experience using MRP/ERP systems to manage material requirements, purchase orders, delivery schedules, and inventory.
• Demonstrated success negotiating with suppliers, resolving delivery issues, and managing competing priorities.
• Working knowledge of inventory management, supplier performance, quotation analysis, and total purchasing cost.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analyzing purchasing and inventory data.
• Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage an assigned purchasing workload independently and recognize when issues require escalation.

Nice To Haves

• Direct purchasing experience in print and packaging, such as labels, folding cartons, corrugated packaging, inserts, and other printed components.
• Understanding of print and packaging specifications, materials, printing processes, artwork revisions, tooling charges, and the impact of order quantities on cost.
• Experience coordinating packaging changes and supplier transitions while minimizing obsolete inventory and production disruptions.
• Experience with Oracle EBS and Fusion purchasing and planning systems.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485 or purchasing within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, procurement, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily purchasing for assigned production materials, including placing purchase orders, confirming supplier commitments, and ensuring materials arrive when needed.
• Use Oracle recommendations and exception reports to buy, expedite, reschedule, or cancel orders as production and inventory requirements change.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and other purchasing terms to achieve cost savings and reliable supply.
• Work with suppliers, Planning, and Category Managers to support procurement needs.
• Verify that purchase orders reference the correct specifications and revisions, particularly for printed materials and packaging.
• Address shortages, late deliveries, supplier performance concerns, and nonconforming materials.
• Maintain accurate purchasing data with the analyst, including lead times, order quantities, supplier information, pricing, and delivery dates.
• Establish and maintain blanket purchase agreements in coordination with Category Managers.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and receiving issues with suppliers and Accounts Payable.
