About The Position
Beckman Coulter Life Sciences is seeking a Senior Buyer for its Supply Chain team in Indianapolis, Indiana. The role is responsible for a value stream’s purchasing activities, including preparing and processing requisitions and placing purchase orders for commodities and supplies needed to manufacture products. The Buyer works with the Production Planner to ensure materials are available to support the production plan. This is an on-site position reporting to the Senior Supply Chain Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 0 to 2 years of experience.
- Experience negotiating with suppliers.
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, with the ability to learn job-specific programs.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a tactical or strategic procurement role supporting manufacturing or project management.
- Oracle experience.
Responsibilities
- Place new purchase orders, follow up on existing purchase orders, and execute tactical purchasing processes.
- Negotiate favorable pricing with vendors and suppliers.
- Establish supplier contract terms and drive ongoing supplier optimization to achieve organizational metrics.
- Manage the supply base, including negotiations, supplier on-time delivery, and forecasting.
- Identify and facilitate continuous improvement activities to reduce indirect spend.
- Collaborate with and support production planning and the value stream to ensure timely delivery to customers.
